Straightforward IT support for Bournemouth

We’re based in Waterlooville, Hampshire, and support Bournemouth and the wider Dorset area alongside our Hampshire clients. Owner-led since 2005, no jargon, no call centres.

We’re honest about the geography. Our office is in Waterlooville, about an hour along the coast, so support here is built remote-first rather than promising an engineer at the door within the hour. For businesses that value a provider who’s straightforward, responsive and genuinely accountable, distance from the office hasn’t been the deciding factor, fit has.

Bournemouth’s business base runs from seafront hospitality and retail to a solid cluster of professional and financial services firms in the town centre, plus a growing number of digital and creative agencies. Different pressures, same underlying need: technology that just works, and someone straightforward to call when it doesn’t.

Day-to-day support, a Microsoft 365 rollout, or steadying a system that keeps letting people down, the aim stays the same: less disruption, less frustration, more time actually running the business.

We’ve kept the team small on purpose. Call us and you get someone who already knows your setup, not a ticket number in a queue.

What we do for Bournemouth businesses

Managed IT support

Your whole team gets a direct line to engineers who already know your setup, mostly by phone and remotely, with on-site visits arranged whenever something genuinely needs a person in the room. We watch for problems around the clock so most get caught before anyone notices.

Cyber security

Proportionate protection explained in plain English, plus hands-on help getting Cyber Essentials certified where a contract or tender demands it. Right tools in the background, processes people will actually follow, enough training that a dodgy email gets spotted before it’s a problem.

Cloud and Microsoft 365

As a Microsoft Solutions Partner for Modern Work, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive and Azure are things we handle weekly, not learn on your account. Clean migrations, ongoing management, and untangling a setup that’s grown messy over the years.

Projects and consulting

Office moves, server migrations, security overhauls, the bigger jobs that need real planning instead of being squeezed between helpdesk tickets. And we’re still there to look after the result afterwards, not gone once the invoice is paid.

What it’s actually like to work with us

Most IT pages list what’s included and leave it there. Here’s the part that actually matters day to day.

You get a small, consistent group of engineers on your account, not whoever’s free off a shared rota, so you’re never re-explaining your setup from scratch. Because we’re that bit further away, most Bournemouth work is remote by design rather than a fallback, but on-site support is arranged whenever something genuinely calls for it.

We speak plainly. If something needs explaining, we explain it properly instead of reaching for jargon to sound clever, and if something isn’t worth doing, we’ll say so rather than sell it to you anyway.

Covering Bournemouth and the surrounding area

Town centre offices, the seafront hospitality and retail businesses, and the professional services firms scattered around the wider conurbation. We work with all of it from our office in Waterlooville, about an hour along the coast.

Most support runs remotely because it’s simply quicker for day-to-day issues. When something needs a person in the room, whether that’s a new starter setup, a hardware fault, or a network problem remote tools can’t fully diagnose, we arrange a site visit rather than promising same-day cover we couldn’t reliably deliver from this distance.

Bournemouth sits alongside our wider coverage of Surrey and West Sussex, clients we support further afield in much the same remote-first way. If you’re closer to Hampshire itself, our support in Southampton, Portsmouth, or the rest of Hampshire is worth a look.

Twenty-one years and counting

Ken Scaddan Associates were our very first client back in 2005 and are still with us today, which in an industry that churns contracts every couple of years is the number we’re proudest of. Active Dorset, a long-standing client based in the county, has just renewed for a further three years without needing to be chased, which is part of why we’re comfortable saying we understand Dorset businesses, not just Hampshire ones.

Hospitality and retail businesses along the seafront can’t afford a booking system or till going down during the season. Professional services firms in the town centre tend to carry their own confidentiality and compliance requirements a generic support contract won’t cover properly. We’ve built support for both, which is a different thing from having a single template we apply to everyone.

Thinking about switching?

Nobody rings an IT company for fun. Usually something’s gone wrong, or it’s been quietly going wrong for a while, and the real worry isn’t whether a new provider would be better, it’s whether moving to one becomes a nightmare.

It doesn’t have to be. We’ve done this enough times to handle the awkward parts, including speaking to your current provider on your behalf if that helps.

01

A proper conversation

Twenty minutes on where you are and what is not working. No pitch.

02

A plan for your business

Built around what you actually need, not a package with a name.

03

A handover with no gap

We take care of the transition so your team keeps working throughout.

Common questions

Q1

How far are you from Bournemouth?

About an hour from our office in Waterlooville. We’re upfront that this makes us remote-first here, with site visits arranged whenever something genuinely needs a person in the room.

Q2

How quickly do you answer the phone?

Usually within a few rings, by someone who already knows your setup. We’re a small team rather than a call centre, so you’re never re-explaining your problem from scratch.

Q3

How much does IT support cost?

We don’t publish set prices, because a five-person office and a fifty-person one need genuinely different things and a price list would only mislead you. Book a call and we’ll talk through what you need and what it would cost.

Q4

Are we too small for you?

Almost certainly not. We work with businesses from a handful of staff upwards, and being small ourselves, we’re a better fit for smaller companies than most.

Q5

Can you help us get Cyber Essentials certified?

Yes. We’ll tell you honestly what needs to change, sort it, and take you through the certification itself. It’s increasingly a requirement for tenders and insurance, so it’s worth having before anyone asks for it.

Q6

What makes you different from a bigger IT provider?

Mostly size, and what that does to service. A bigger provider usually means a call centre, tiered support, and an account manager who changes every year. We’ve stayed small on purpose. You know who you’re dealing with, and so do we.

Q7

What happens on the free 20-minute call?

A conversation, not a pitch. We ask what’s working, what isn’t, and what you’re trying to achieve. If we think we can genuinely help, we’ll say so and explain what that would look like. If we’re not the right fit, we’ll tell you that too.

Q8

Our IT provider was taken over and the local office has gone. Can you help?

Yes, and we hear this a lot at the moment. When a local provider gets absorbed into a larger group, service usually moves further away, both literally and in how it feels. We’re independent, owner-led, and staying that way. Give us a call and we’ll talk you through what switching would involve.
